Installing the Expensed App

Expensed works in your browser, but you can also install it as an app on your phone or computer for quick access and offline support.

Why Install the App?

Installing Expensed gives you:

  • Quick access from your home screen
  • Offline support to capture expenses without internet
  • Push notifications for approvals and updates
  • Native app feel without the app store

Progressive Web App

Expensed is a Progressive Web App (PWA). This means it installs from your browser and works like a native app, without needing the App Store or Google Play.

Installing on iPhone/iPad

  1. Open Safari and go to expensed.app
  2. Log in to your account
  3. Tap the Share button (square with arrow) at the bottom
  4. Scroll down and tap Add to Home Screen
  5. Tap Add in the top right corner
  6. Find Expensed on your home screen!

Safari Required

On iPhone/iPad, you must use Safari to install the app. Chrome and other browsers don't support PWA installation on iOS.

Installing on Android

  1. Open Chrome and go to expensed.app
  2. Log in to your account
  3. You'll see an "Add Expensed to Home screen" banner at the bottom
  4. Tap Install or Add
  5. Find Expensed in your app drawer!

If you don't see the banner:

  1. Tap the three-dot menu (⋮) in Chrome
  2. Tap Add to Home screen or Install app
  3. Tap Install to confirm

Installing on Desktop (Windows/Mac)

Chrome

  1. Go to expensed.app in Chrome
  2. Log in to your account
  3. Look for the install icon (⊕) in the address bar
  4. Click it and select Install
  5. Expensed opens as its own window!

Edge

  1. Go to expensed.app in Edge
  2. Log in to your account
  3. Click the three-dot menu (⋯)
  4. Select Apps → Install Expensed
  5. Click Install to confirm

Desktop Install

App Shortcuts

Once installed, you'll have quick shortcuts:

  • Add Expense - Jump straight to receipt upload
  • View Dashboard - See your expense overview
  • Track Mileage - Start a new mileage trip

Right-click (or long-press on mobile) the Expensed app icon to see these shortcuts.

Updating the App

Expensed updates automatically! When a new version is available:

  1. You'll see an "Update available" banner
  2. Click Update to get the latest features
  3. The page will refresh with the new version

Automatic Updates

Updates happen automatically in the background. You'll only need to click "Update" to apply them.

Uninstalling the App

On iPhone/iPad

  1. Find Expensed on your home screen
  2. Long-press the icon
  3. Tap Remove App or the minus (–) button
  4. Tap Delete to confirm

On Android

  1. Find Expensed in your app drawer
  2. Long-press the icon
  3. Drag to Uninstall or tap the trash icon
  4. Confirm the uninstall

On Desktop

  1. Open your system settings
  2. Go to Apps or Programs
  3. Find Expensed
  4. Click Uninstall
